orn in Iowa, March 20, 1858. Their five chil-dren are all living, and of them Garry Jackson Jef-fries is the third in order of birth. John D. Jeffriesspent hisyouth in Kentucky, and in i860 was takento Missouri by his parents, who located in PutnamCounty. After the war the family removed to St.Clair County. In this region John D. Jeffries ma-tured and developed into a successful farmer andstockraiser, and also became a buyer and shipperof stock to the St. Louis and Kansas City. Mis-souri, markets. On his farm he engaged in thebreeding of Perdieron horses. Ever since he casthis first vote he has given the republican party hiswarm support. The Christian Church in him hasa faithful and earnest member. Garry Jackson Jeffries was reared in his nativestate, and attended the public scliools of Saint ClairCounty and the Kansas City School of Law, fromwhich he was graduated in 1908. In the fall of igii hecame West and was associated with J. C. Huntoonat Lewistown until January, 1912, when he formeda partnership with Mr. Huntoon, under the nameof Huntoon & Jeffries, with a branch office at Round-up, Mr. Jeffries taking charge of the same. Inthe November election of 1912 Mr. Jeffries waselected county attorney of Musselshell County, andthe partnership was dissolved. He was reelectedin 1914, and after serving two terms resumed hisprivate practice. In July, 1918, Mr. Jeffries formeda partnership with A. G. McNaught, under the nameof Jeffries & McNaught. Mr. Jeffries is a mem-ber of the Montana Bar Association. In politics heis a republican. A Mason, he belongs to Unity LodgeNo. 71, Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons.
