Abigail Campbell Kawananakoa (1882–1945) was a member of the Hawaiian royal family and a prominent figure in Hawaiian society during the early 20th century. She was the great-aunt of the Abigail Campbell Kawananakoa mentioned in the previous question. Princess Abigail was born in 1882 to Prince David Kawananakoa and his wife, Princess Abigail Campbell. She was a direct descendant of King Kamehameha I, the founder of the Kingdom of Hawaii. Princess Abigail was educated in the United States and Europe and was fluent in several languages. She was known for her philanthropic work and supported a variety of causes, including healthcare, education, and the arts. She was also an advocate for the preservation of Hawaiian culture and traditions. Princess Abigail's marriage to Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole, another member of the Hawaiian royal family, made her a prominent figure in Hawaiian society. Prince Jonah served as a delegate to the United States Congress and was instrumental in securing federal recognition and support for the Territory of Hawaii. Princess Abigail passed away in 1945 at the age of 63. Her legacy as a champion of Hawaiian culture and her philanthropic work continue to be remembered in Hawaii today.
