A prominent andwell known citizen of Havre, Montana, is WilliamE. Wiltner, who has led an eminently honorableand useful life and achieved a marked success inhis chosen vocation, and at the same time has bene-fited the community of which he is a resident, forhe has not been so selfishly absorbed in money-making that he has not had time for the higherthings of life. Because of his splendid personalcharacter, as well as because of his success inbusiness, he enjoys the esteem and respect of theentire community. William Edward Wiltner was born in SenecaFalls, New York, on May 19, 1876, and is the sonof Joseph and Wilhelmina (Fahland) Wiltner, bothof whom were natives of Germany. The father isstill living, but the mother passed away November28, 1919. They were married in Seneca Falls, NewYork, and became the parents of five children, of

Joseph Wiltner lefthis native land when about eighteen years of age,accompanying his parents on their immigration tothe United States, and they landed at the port ofNew York. His future wife came to this countrywith her parents when ten years of age. Beforeleaving the old country Mr. Wiltner had learned thetrade of marble finisher, at which trade he was em-ployed in Seneca Falls, New York, for a time. In1887 he moved to Polk County, Wisconsin, with hiswife and four children, but soon afterwards movedto Stillwater. Minnesota, where he remained ashort time. He then went to St. Paul, Minnesota,being employed in the construction of the statecapitol building as a granite worker. In 1892 hewent into business on his own account as a marbleworker and tombstone manufacturer, which engagedhis attention for some time, but eventually he wentout of business and was employed by others as aforeman, in which work he is still engaged.
