Blomberg moved from Karlstad to Stockholm in 1888, where he had a studio at Herkulesgatan 5 and later at Sturegatan 28, four flights of stairs up. Between 1899 and 1914 he was also employed as a reportage photographer for the magazine Idun and was one of the pioneers of this new profession. At that time he was also the royal court photographer. He closed down his business in 1914 after taking around 60,000 pictures Blomberg was also active as an art dealer and painter. In recent years he has been recognized for his depictions of life in the capital. A selection of his pictures was published in 1981 by Rolf Söderberg in the book Stockholmsliv i Anton Blombergs bilder 1893-1914. The Stockholm City Museum has 10,000 of Blomberg's pictures in its collections. Anton Blomberg is buried in Lovö cemetery.
