President Wilson was abundantly able to maintain that thearrangement of mandataries for the temporary administration ofthe former German colonies was in compliance with his principle ofconsulting the interests of the populations concerned as well asthose of the Government whose title is to be determined. As fordisarmament, that of Germany was provided for in the treaty: thatof other nations was to be undertaken under the League. Whileequality of trade conditions was not definitely assured to Germanyby the treaty, assurance was repeatedly given that Germanys in-dustrial requirements would be met. The German Governmentsstatement had asked Americans to place the Fourteen Points oppo-site the peace terms. Mr.Wilson, as if making: a reply to the German claims as to his Four-teen Points, was quoted on June 6 as sayin*;: I am convinced that our treaty j)rojccts violates none of my princi-ples.
