The way to tell that is to climb and see, saidJack. Dont you be afraid; I shall soon find outwhat it all means. Ill JACK CLIMBS THE BEANSTALK INSTANTLY he ran from his mothers side andbegan to climb. Up, up, and up he M^ent on theladder-like stalks till everything he had left behindhim, the cottage, the village and even the tall churchtower, looked very small; and still he could not seethe top of the beanstalk. He grew tired and thoughtof going back, but something urged him on, andhe knew he would succeed if he persevered, so aftertaking a good long rest he began to climb again.It was hours and hours since he left the ground, andwhen at last he reached the top he took but a hastyglance downwards, for it made him feel dizzy andfaint when he found that the cottage and the villagehad all faded out of siffht.
