In all cases the thimbles shouldbe set at the time of building the chim-ney, being careful that all joints arewell filled and tuck-pointed on both supporting the hearth, use iron barsmade of !/> by 2-in. iron; and on this laybrick edgewise, leaving a space of 3 or4 inches for concrete on which to laythe tile hearth. The fireplace should belined with firebrick, with the upperpart of the brick slanted toward the top
