For a year he workedon his fathers farm, and then went into the serviceof the leading store at Argyle, Minnesota, andlearned every detail of the business through an ex-perience of fifteen years as salesman and collector.He not only proved his diligence and efficiency butalso achieved the respect and gained the confidenceof his business associates, and he came to Montanawell fortified with commercial credit. In the fall of 1909 Mr. Dahlgren organized theScandinavian-American State Bank of Missoula,and -when the bank was opened for business inJanuary, 1910, he was cashier, and has been theactive executive in control of the banks affairs fromthe beginning. In 1917 the bank was reorganizedas the .American Bank and Trust Company, sincewhich date Mr. Dahlgren has been vice presidentand manager. .At that time the capital was in-creased from $w,000 to $100,000.
