In 45 we beholdthe crowning act of the robe-chief, denoted by his dress, who comes in on foot from theprairie (47 check), to engage in a personal combat between three footmen, two of whomare shot through the breast with arrows, and the third knocked in the head with aclub. Such appear to be the leading scenes of this record, and such, indeed, is prairielife. 2. Comanche Inscription. Plate 32.
