In the White Room, STS-100 Mission Specialist Chris A. Hadfield displays a special sign to a family member before entering Space Shuttle Endeavour.  Closeout crew members Rick Welty (front) and George Schramm (behind) are available to help with Hadfield’s launch and entry suit.  The White Room is an environmental chamber at the end of the Orbiter Access Arm that provides entry into the orbiter on the launch pad.  The  mission will deliver and integrate the Spacelab Logistics Pallet/Launch Deployment Assembly, which includes the Canadian-built Space Station Remote Manipulator System and the UHF Antenna.  Two spacewalks are planned for installation of the SSRMS, which will be performed by Mission Specialist Scott E. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- After meeting with NASA officials about their involvement in the second annual Space & Air Show at Kennedy Space Center Nov. 8-9, Blue Angel pilots Lt. Frank Weisser and Lt. Dan McShane take off from the Shuttle Landing Facility aboard their U.S. Navy F-18 Hornet for the return flight to their home base in Pensacola, Fla.   The air show will be only the second time the Blue Angels have performed at Kennedy.  Their precision flight team will perform high-speed passes, fast rolls, mirror formations, tight turns and their signature Delta formation showcasing the capabilities of the powerful aircraft.  The 2008 Space & Air Show will include aircraft displays and space-related exhibits on the ground and plenty of action in the skies over Kennedy.  Returning to the show is the 920th Rescue Wing, an Air Force Reserve Command combat search and rescue unit based at Patrick Air Force Base in Central Florida. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- In the Press Site auditorium at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, representatives of NASA and the Economic Development Commission (EDC) of Florida’s Space Coast sign a new five-year Space Act Agreement. From left are Kennedy Space Center Director Director Robert Cabana and EDC President and CEO Lynda Weatherman, with Chairman of the Board of the EDC Bob Whelen looking on.      The agreement calls for NASA and EDC senior leadership to meet regularly to discuss economic development matters of mutual interest. Managers from Kennedy’s Center Planning and Development Office will work with the EDC on potential business partnerships and meet with business leaders and committees to address space-related and high-tech economic development. EDC officials will assist NASA with disseminating information about potential partnership opportunities, as well as space-related and high-tech economic development, and increase awareness of Kennedy’s Engineering and Technology Directorate collaboration initiatives. They also will promote the commercial use of underutilized facilities at Kennedy. NASA and the EDC entered into their first economic cooperation agreement in 2005. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - A new sign on Space Commerce Way marks the entrance to Exploration Park near NASA’s Kennedy space Center in Florida. Land in the background has been cleared for the first phase of construction. Exploration Park encompasses 60 acres just outside Kennedy’s security gates. The park is designed to be a strategically located complex, adjacent to the Space Life Sciences Laboratory, for servicing diverse tenants and uses that will engage in activities to support the space-related activities of NASA, other government agencies and the U.S. commercial space industry. Its nine sustainable, state-of-the art buildings will include educational, office, research and laboratory, and high bay facilities and provide 350,000-square-feet of work space. Portage Des Sioux, Mo., June 6, 2013 -- A warning sign in a small town warning of street flooding. FEMA and the State of Missouri are doing  joint Preliminary Damage Assessments (PDA) in the areas hit by a tornado. PDA is used to determine the magnitude and impact of an event's damage. The State uses the results of the PDA to determine if the situation is beyond the combined capabilities of the State and local resources and to verify the need for supplemental Federal assistance.
