Armistice celebration at the Amer. Hosp. at Dartford near London. The Red Cross car stood about the hosp. grounds distributing extra rations of chocolate and cigarettes, and whereever it went it was the center of hilarious celebration. The excellent effect of such a celebration on the patients is seen by the fact that three crutches have evidently been thrown aside as unnecessary by patients who forgot their troubles in the midst of the merry making

The hospital farm at the American Military hospital at Portsmouth England, includes about an acre of greenhouses, where the patients are growing tomatoes, cucumbers, and a number of delicacies for the hospital kitchens. Close by are the flower gardens, not much ground for these in war time, but there will be quite a fine line of early spring blooms as a result of work the patients are putting in here during the fall and winter. In southern England, gardening goes on about the same in winter, for there is no snow here, and they play baseball on the hospital diamond in January the same as June

One of the ARC hospitals in London, "Baroda House," which is being used exclusively for orthopedic cases. The word "hospital" associated as it is with sickness and suffering is a misnomer here, and the atmosphere is wholly unlike that of the ordinary hospital. The patients are army officers long since discharged from the surgical hospitals and now undergoing treatment designed to restore injured members to proper functions and use. The house was donated by A Dhoster Beatty, a wealthy American mining Engineer. He is seen standing on the bottom step with the Chief Nurse, Miss M.J. Hay of N.Y. the secretary, Miss Lillian Thornton, and three of the patients
