Members of the 48th Transportation Squadron unload supplies and equipment from a C-17 aircraft on the RAF Lakenheath flightline returning from the Air Expeditionary Force 4 deployment. The pallets were loaded onto the new 60K 'Tunner.' Named after Lieutenant General William H. Tunner, commander of the Combined Airlift Task Force, which provided supplies to West Berlin during the Berlin Airlift. The $1.5 million Tunner is the military's latest "K Loader," the primary piece of equipment used to load and download cargo from aircraft. The Tunner is capable of holding up to 60,000 pounds or 6 pallet positions of cargo or rolling stock. It can reach speeds up to 24 miles per hour, and can ...
