A group of refugee children at Ekaterinodar. During warm weather they are pretty comfortable in the open air and with the woods for a playground. They have no need during seven months of the year of shoes and stockings. But with the coming of winter, shelter and clothing become a neccessity as fabrics have not been manufactured in the Caucasas since 1914. When they are sick they are cared for at A.R.C. dispensaries, operated in cooperation with the Service de Sante of the Kuban government. Captain Henry Adams, of Massachusetts, who is in charge of the A.R.C. relief in the Kuban is making extreme efforts to provide winter clothing for 4,000 orphans for the present winter

Major Dexter and the American Red Cross unit for the Kuban being received by Col. Sheremeteff, chief of the Service de Santa of the Volunteer Army. The Cooperation between the two organizations have been extremely close. It was under Col. Shermeteff's direction that the territory held by the Army was divided into four sections for the more effective distribution of Hospital equipment. These four regions are the Don, the Kuban, and Terek States and the Balance of the Territory held by the Volunteer Army
