Two 143-square-meter health clinics are taking shape for the Iraqi Army at Taji Military Base in Iraq, on July 8, 2005. The East Clinic is 75% complete with the crew there installing electrical lights and ceiling tiles. At the West Clinic, floor tiles are being set in place. At both clinics, final grade around the structures is being worked. The $3 million contract was awarded July 7, 2004, with an expected completion date of Aug. 25, 2005. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla.  --  In the Orbiter Processing Facility bay 3, STS-120 crew members get a look at the main bus switching unit that is part of the payload on their mission.  From left are Mission Specialists Scott Parazynski and Doug Wheelock at left and Mission Specialist Paolo Nespoli at right.  Nespoli represents the European Space Agency. A main bus switching unit is used for power distribution, circuit protection and fault isolation on the space station's power system.  The units route power to proper locations in the space station, such as from solar arrays through umbilicals into the U.S. Lab.  The unit will be installed on the external stowage platform 2 attached to the Quest airlock for temporary storage.  Discovery is targeted to launch mission STS-120 no earlier than Oct. 20. STS-85 Payload Specialist Bjarni V. Tryggvason gives a thumbs up as he is assisted with his ascent/reentry flight suit in the Operations and Checkout (O&C) Building. He is a Canadian Space Agency astronaut and was born in Iceland. Tryggvason has also been a flight instructor for the Canadian Air Force. Tryggvason is the principal investigator of the Microgravity Vibration Isolation Mount now flying on the Russian Mir space station. During STS-85, Tryggvason will conduct vibration isolation mount and fluid physics investigations. His work to study how Shuttle vibrations affect the results of experiments will be valuable to the International Space Station program, since this experiment is planned for use on that space platform. Tryggvason will also conduct Bioreactor experiments and assist Mission Specialist Stephen K. Robinson with photography KSC-97PC1198

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -- At SPACEHAB, Port Canaveral, Fla., members of the STS-106 crew check out part of the payload, called TVIS, on their mission to the International Space Station. From left are Mission Specialist Boris Morukov, who is with the Russian Space Agency, Pilot Scott Altman and Mission Specialist Edward Lu. TVIS is the Treadmill Vibration Isolation System, a device to collect data on how vibrations imparted by crew exercise may be reduced or eliminated on the International Space Station. Those vibrations could disturb delicate microgravity experiments on the Space Station. During the mission, the crew will complete service module support tasks on orbit, transfer supplies and outfit the Space Station for the first long-duration crew. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla.  --  In the Orbiter Processing Facility bay 3, a crane lifts the main bus switching unit that will be installed in Discovery's payload bay.  The unit is part of the payload on mission STS-120.  A main bus switching unit is used for power distribution, circuit protection and fault isolation on the space station's power system.  The units route power to proper locations in the space station, such as from solar arrays through umbilicals into the U.S. Lab.  The unit will be installed on the external stowage platform 2 attached to the Quest airlock for temporary storage.  Discovery is targeted to launch mission STS-120 no earlier than Oct. 20. Two 143-square-meter health clinics are taking shape for the Iraqi Army at Taji Military Base in Iraq. The East Clinic is 75% complete with the crew there installing electrical lights and ceiling tiles. At the West Clinic, floor tiles are being set in place. At both clinics, final grade around the structures is being worked. The $3 million contract was awarded July 7, 2004, with an expected completion date of Aug. 25, 2005.
