He is congratulated by Stephen B. Gibbons, Asst. Sec. of the Treasury, Center, and Postmaster General James A. Farley, right. Mrs. Edness Wilkens, Secretary to Nellie Tayloe Ross, Director of the Mint, for the last four years has been collecting coins as a hobby, thru gifts, trades, and buys, she has a collection of over 400 coins ramping from half pennies to the old silver cartwheels, she is shown inspecting a half-dime , one of the first coins struck from the Philadelphia Mint in 1792, and Mint tradition has it that the silver it contains is from the tableware of Martha Washington, she at that time lived two doors down from the Mint, and gave part of her silverware for the first coins, April 11, 1938

A miniature White House, made entirely of pearl shell and completely equipped with tiny reproductions of presidential furniture, was placed on view at the Willard Hotel today by group of prominent Washington club women. The replica is a gift of a New York art collector to the wheel of progress, National Womens Society, in recognition of its pariotic projects. $2,500,000 in rare books acquired for Folger Library. Washington, D.C., May 14. The Folger Shakespeare Library, here, will soon place on it's shelves 9,000 volumes, onced valued at $2,500,000 and containing 787 books by early English authors, only one copy of each of which is known to exist. The 9,000 books were printed in England up to the end of 1640, roughly from the reign of Henry the 8th to the Cromwell Revolt, a period preceding and following Shakespeare. They deal largely with historical and religious subjects. The books were purchased from Lady Harmsworth, widow of the collector by President Stanley King, of Amherst College, the trustees of which administer the Folger Library. Dr. Giles E. Agriculture. Guayule cultivation. Mechanical harvesting seed collector from a guayule nursery bed. The plant grows a considerable seed crop during the first year. This machine brushes the seed off the seed stalks into containers. Guayule plantings will produce an estimated 600 tons of rubber in early 1943, provide a crop in 1944 which should yield 33,000 tons and a harvest in 1945 to yield 47,000 tons. An annual production of 70,000 tons to 80,000 tons will materialize if full capacity of nurseries now being built is utilized. Addition: This program is part of the Department of Agriculture's Emergency Rubber Project, administered by the Forest Service under congressional authorization "to make available a source of crude rubber for emergency and defense uses"
