The largest building in Archangel is a great prison, belonging to the old regime, when prisons were a very vital and important matter in the business of government. It was emptied by the Bolsheviks when they arrived in Archangel, and it is now again filled with Bolsheviks, being used as a barracks for American troops. The tallest man in the group is the American Assistant Provost Marshal, Lt. Wron of Detroit, who was in charge of the prison. Next to him is Lt. E.W. Hallowell of Los Angeles

American soldiers wearing this armor have gone into actual battle to test the effectiveness of the covering, and upon the result of the experiments depends whether the soldiers are to wear armor. Old helmets on exhibition in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, N.Y. These helmets are of Italian origin dating back to the 15th century. They are technically known as Saladebarbute, and are all of Milanese workmanship. The helmet on the extreme left is of classic design, and follows the fashion set by the ancient Greeks. These helmets are being studied by military experts so that the good points will not be lost in designing modern armor
