Two boys working in Coventry Co. Mill, Anthony, R. I. 6 P.M. April 16, 1909. I saw about 10 boys and girls who looked to be under 14 years of age. Location: Anthony, Rhode Island.

Boy on left hand end (hands in pockets) is Peter Carlos, 33 Waldron St. Been working in Mill No. 1 for 1 1/2 years. Smallest boy is Nicholas Karambles, 33 Waldron Street. Cocheco Mfg. Co., Dover N.H. 6 A.M., May 15, 1909. I counted 23 boys and girls that looked to be under 14 years of age going into these mills one morning, and could not watch all the gates. Small boy works as helper -- backroping in Great Falls Mfg. Co., Somersworth, N.H. Charles Chasse, 201 Main Street. When I inquired about him in the home, his mother very reluctantly admitted he was working, but said he is past 14 years of age. I met him on the street and he said he is to be 14 next month, when he hopes to get his "school papers." Said he has been working several months. Location: Somersworth, New Hampshire.

A group of workers at Greenabaum's Cannery, Seaford, Del. 1 Child is 7 years of age. 4 Children are 12 years of age. 1 Child is 13 years of age. 4 Children are 15 years of age. 3 of these children are working 1 year. 1 of these children is working 2 years. 3 of these children are working 3 years. 2 of these children are working 4 years. 1 of these children is working 5 years. 1 of these children is working 6 years. Greenabaum's Cannery is considered one of the largest in the United States. A few years ago they canned 1,000,000 cans of peas in 4 days. This information was given by the bookkeeper of the Cannery. Works 6 hours per day. Mother and father separated. Lives with grandmother. This boy was found on King St. (marked), eating rotted orange which he picked up from the gutter. He was bare footed, shabbily clad and seemed under fed. All are workers in the Ross Cannery, Seaford, Del. The smallest girl seen in the picture was at work 8 o'clock in the morning of the investigation and was seen the same night at 9 P.M. During one visit of the investigators about 2 P.M. she was absent. She appears to be about 5 years of age and works irregularly in the cannery exposed to the dangers of the unprotected belting. Her mother works beside her. Location: Seaford, Delaware.

[Harry Cherkos, 435 Catherine St, 7 years of age, sells papers, from 2:30 to 8 P.M. daily. 10 A.M. to midnight on Saturday. Income, 50 cents per day. This boy was caught gambling on Chestnut & 11th Streets. When asked if he gambles said no. Said all earnings go home. 2 boys at the filling machine in Cannon's Cannery, Bridgeville, Del. These boys place cans in the grove to be filled with peas. Work 10 hours per day, and when there is a good supply of peas they work 15 hours a day. The small boy is 9 years of age, at work the first season. The larger boy is 12, working his 2nd season.
