Employee housing. One of several house types developed for very low rentals to take care of unskilled labor employed on dam construction. This house of five rooms is built of cinder concrete block, concrete floors and metal roof, thus being fireproof except for the roof construction, as well as very low in maintenance

Watts Bar steam plant. Partial view of generator hall with one of 60,000 kva turbines in foreground. Gray ceramic tile floor, blue-gray tile walls, exposed steel work designed for maximum simplicity with rigid frame roof arches, precast concrete slabs, continuous glass brick above crane rail level. Units in light cream with a rich tan over portions of the machinery subject to particularly high temperatures. Light color over other portions compels first-class maintenance, also emphasizes importance of units by concentrating attention

Guntersville Dam and powerhouse. View of entrance end of generator hall from generator floor. Raised platform at end serves as delivery and assembly space for machinery, also as visitors' overlook. Machine repair and electrical shops are located under platform. Offices in downstream wing are served by open corridor, beginning of which is seen on upper floor to the right of the picture. Directly below, control room which can be inspected from entrance platform. Windows of generator hall along sides are of glass brick (as at Chickamauga, also) for heat insulation and easier maintenance
