Another Douglas A-20 attack bomber leaves the assembly line at the Long Beach, California, plant for transfer to the flight line and test flight before delivery to the Army. The A-20 is used by the American Air Force and the Royal Air Force (RAF) for hedge hopping and strafing operations against ground troops and installations--also for reconnaissance work and night fighting. It is armed with light and heavy caliber guns

Production. B-17F heavy bombers. A completed B-17F heavy bomber is checked by final inspectors at the Long Beach, California, plant of Douglas Aircraft Company, before it moves to the flight line for rigid acceptance tests. Better known as the "Flying Fortress," the B-17F is a later model of the B-17, which distinguished itself in action in the South Pacific, over Germany and elsewhere. It is a long range, high altitude, heavy bomber with a crew of seven to nine men and with armament sufficient to defend itself on daylight missions

Production. A-31 ("Vengeance") dive bombers. Ready to flight. Vultee "Vengeance" dive bombers for the British being staked down on the flight line ready for delivery. The "Vengeance" (A-31) was originally designed for the French. It was later adopted by the RAF (Royal Air Force) and still later by the U.S. Army Air Forces. It is a single-engine, low-wing plane, carrying a crew of two men and having six machine guns of varying calibers
