Location and History

Pidhaytsi is a town in western Ukraine, located in the Ternopil Oblast. During World War I, it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The town was occupied by the Russian Army from September 1914 to June 1915, and then by the German Army from June 1915 to November 1918.

The Battle of Pidhaytsi

The Battle of Pidhaytsi was fought between the Russian and Austro-Hungarian armies from June 22 to July 26, 1915. The battle was part of the Brusilov Offensive, a major Russian offensive on the Eastern Front. The battle resulted in a Russian victory, with the Austro-Hungarian army suffering heavy losses.
