Geography

Kishangarh is a town and a municipality in the Ajmer district of the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is situated on the banks of the Roopangarh River, a tributary of the Banas River. The town is located about 25 kilometers (16 mi) from Ajmer, the district headquarters.

History

Kishangarh was founded in 1609 by Raja Kishan Singh, a Kachwaha Rajput ruler. The town was named after him. Kishangarh was once a princely state, and it remained so until 1949 when it was merged into the state of Rajasthan.

Demographics

As of the 2011 Census of India, Kishangarh had a population of 154,024. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Kishangarh has an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 74.04%: male literacy is 86%, and female literacy is 69%. In Kishangarh, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Economy

Kishangarh is known for its marble industry. The town is home to many marble mines and processing units. Other industries in Kishangarh include textiles, handicrafts, and agriculture.

Culture

Kishangarh has a rich cultural heritage. The town is known for its miniature paintings, which are characterized by their vibrant colors and intricate details. Kishangarh is also home to several temples, including the Govind Dev Ji Temple and the Kishangarh Fort.
