Zhao Wenhua zou shu : 1 juan - Chinese rare book collection, LOC

Collection of official reports to the Emperor concerning suppression of Japanese invaders written by Zhao Wenhua in the Jiajing period (1522-1566 A.D.). The twenty-eight reports address sea-worship, assignment of officials, inspection of facilities, and supervision of the war. The third report, "Huichao", indicates a publication date of 1556 or 1557.

明趙文華撰。按明史三百零八文華本傳云：「文華慈谿人，嘉靖八年進士。累官至通政使，以建議築京師外城，加工部左侍郎。東南倭擊棘，文華獻七事，首以祭海神為言，即遣文華祭告，因察賊情」。是書凡禮成疏一篇。即言祭告海神直，蠲免疏一篇，言蘇松嘉湖地方蠲免賑濟事，察視疏六篇，督討疏二篇，督察疏十五篇，回朝疏三篇，皆言倭事，皆用敕諭中語以命篇名。明史又稱：「文華知賊未易平，欲委責去，會川兵破賊周浦，俞大猷破賊海洋，文華遂言水陸成功，江南清晏，請還朝，帝〓許之」，則指回朝疏也。持是書與明史對讀，可補證明史之處甚多。回朝第三疏題：「鬥子太保工部尚書」，則當為再出督師時所上，回朝未一年而敗，然敗則此本付梓，應在嘉靖三十五六年間矣.
