Significance: It represents a largely intact example of an early water treatment plant utilizing settling reservoirs and slow sand filters. The historic value of the plant is furthered by the presence of the prototype Blaisdell Slow Sand Filter Washing Machine, which is the last-known example of the machine in existence.
