In 1898 he waselected First Vice President of the National Biscuit Company,which position he held until 1906. At the present time he isDirector of the Iten Biscuit Company, of Nebraska; the VoriesBaking Company, of New Orleans; the Shelby Biscuit Company,of Memphis; the Grant Baking Company, of Chicago; and theVan Camp Packing Company, of Indianapolis, Indiana. He took charge of the Cracker Section for the Baking Divisionin January, 1918, and remained with the Food Administrationone year. He is a member of the Illinois Athletic Club, of Chicago, theFlossmoor Country Club, of that city, and the Columbia CountryClub, of Washington, D. C. He resides at 1109 East 83rd Street, Chicago, Illinois. His oldest son served in the Spanish War and a younger sonsaw active service in France.

225 RICHARD RICHARDSON WILLIAMS, JR. Richard Richardson Williams, Jr., was born at Canajoharie,New York, September 9th, 188s*. He nnished the course at tneBrooklyn Polytechnic Institute in 1900, and graduated from Will-iams College, 1904. After leaving college he entered the firm of Bear, Morgan &Co., bankers, New York City, which firm is now known as Kidder,Peabody & Company. He is manager of the Foreign ExchangeDepartment of that company. In October, 1917, he was called for service in the Food Admin-istration, and for some time acted as general assistant to Mr.Whitmarsh and Mr. Ackerly. The readiness with which hegrasped distributive problems soon made it possible to entrust tohim greater responsibilities, and after Mr. Ackerlys retiremento\ving to ill health in April, 1918, Mr. Williams was made headof the wholesale section of the Distribution Division. It was with the greatest regret that the other members of thedivision saw his departure on August 27th, 1918, for active s
