Walter Folger II House, 8 Pleasant Street, Nantucket, Nantucket County, MA
Summary
Significance: The Walter Folger II House was purchased in 1786 by Walter Folger Sr. Similar to other Pleasant Street residences of the period, it was originally constructed as a two and one-half story heavy wood frame post and beam structure with a shingled four-bayed facade and ridge chimney. Later ell addition(s) were made to the rear of the house and a lean-to added to the south elevation. The structure is architecturally distinguished by a variety of window types and is historically significant as a former residence of Nantucket's prominent Starbuck and Folger families.
