Images document the waterway itself (harbors, rivers, rapids, lakes, canals, and islands) as well as waterway activities, vessels, facilities, and officials. Includes views of numerous cities, towns, villages, and religious facilities (monasteries, cathedrals, churches, and chapels). Also includes images of agricultural and industrial activities and equipment and some images of schools, factories, and cemeteries. Occasional images of local inhabitants, historic sites, and items associated with Peter the Great and other figures of historic and religious importance.
