U.S. Navy students at Naval Aviation Schools Command at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla., carry sandbags in preparation for Tropical Storm Isaac Aug. 26, 2012. The storm was expected to make landfall along the Gulf Coast the evening of Aug. 28, 2012. The last major storm to affect northwest Florida was Hurricane Dennis, a category-three hurricane, which made landfall near Pensacola July 10, 2005. Isaac developed as a tropical storm over the Western Atlantic Ocean Aug. 21, 2012, affecting Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba before making landfall as a hurricane on the Gulf Coast of the United States.
