New Orleans (Sep. 03, 2005) U.S Navy Aviation Machinists Mate 2nd Class Kirk Crabb, assigned to the Black Hawks of Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron Fifteen (HM-15), directs Hurricane Katrina survivors into the back ramp of an MH-53E Sea Dragon helicopter at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center parking lot in New Orleans. HM-15 is conducting relief operations from the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) in the Gulf of Mexico. The Navy's involvement in the Hurricane Katrina humanitarian assistance operations is led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with the Department of Defense.
