X.. male, aged 39: primary lesion February i,1892, followed by unusually severe secondaries; gumma of ciliarybody which perforated the sclera and necessitated enucleation; de-structive uveal inflammation in the remaining eye terminating insecondary cataract, which was successfully removed, giving fairlyuseful vision; recurring attacks of uveitis over a long period ofyears, until in 1901, or nine years after the initial lesion, he had asevere parenchymatous keratitis marked by a peripheral ring-shaped area of deep infiltration, showing a tendency to super-ficial ulceration in different spots. After several recurrencesthere finally appeared, about eleven years after the chancre, asharp, well-marked attack of diffuse interstitial keratitis withpronounced vascularization, which yielded to the active adminis-tration of mercury and iodides in about two months. Within afew months the patient died of cerebral
