Trains at station, Valentia Harbour, Co. Kerry

Another from the invaluable collection of James P. O'Dea. In this case he provides a date stamp in the form of a note:."O'Dea's handwritten caption on verso of print reads "Valentia Harbour - last day - Saturday 30/1/60 2:30pm" ..Niall McAuley ( /photos/gnmcauley/ ) tells us of the demise of the locomotive in the photo and links us to a video where we can see for ourselves its destruction. .."The loco C201 is the very first of the 201 Class, built in 1956..When introduced they were painted an all-over silver livery which unfortunately dirtied quickly and was not a good advert for dieselisation...In the same sequence as Sharon's link above, our friend billh35 has a picture of this loco after it was hijacked and a bomb put on board, before it was blown up:..There's even a Youtube clip of the very end of this loco:.www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUxOybEvCNQ ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUxOybEvCNQ ) ...Photographer: James P. O'Dea. .Collection: James P.
