The Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron is a private sailing club which was formed in 1862. This image depicts the foreshore parkland area. In the background, a whale's jawbones are visible and form an archway. The jawbones originally came from a whaling station at Twofold Bay, on the south coast of New South Wales. Sam Hood (1872-1953) was a Sydney photographer with a passion for ships. His 60-year career spanned the romantic age of sail and two world wars.
