Thomas Negus, center right, commodore of Continuing Promise 2010, and other dignitaries cut the ribbon to re-open the Corentyne School during a ceremony closing the Guyana phase of the Continuing Promise 2010 mission. The multi-purpose amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) is anchored off the coast of Guyana conducting a Continuing Promise 2010 humanitarian civic assistance mission. The assigned medical and engineering staff embarked aboard Iwo Jima are working with partner nation teams to provide medical, dental, veterinary and engineering assistance in eight countries.
