Text Appearing After Image: The region described in this paper extends from the south-west end of Lake Simcoe through the highlands east of Georgian Bay to the hills south of Lake Nipissing. After making some preliminary observations at points farther south, but which do not relate to the particular subject of this paper, the exploration was begun at Barrie on the shore of Lake Simcoe. Most of the observations were made in August 1893, when I was accompanied by Dr. Pearce, who had been with me in the previous trips to Green Bay and the coast of Lake Superior (described in the last May and June numbers of the American Geologist).
