Print showing Union artillery behind infantry lines firing at Confederate troops on the far right during the battle at Stones River, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Includes numbered key to identify troops and positions (with additional text following no. 34: "The enemy while advancing fired at the overcoats, supposing them to be Union Soldiers lying down; they were allowed to advance to the point represented, when the artillery and musketry opened upon them and they were repulsed with heavy loss").
Caption continues: Representing General Palmer's Division, and General, Rousseau's Division, on the 31st of December, 1862; as seen from the position of the 15th and 19th Regulars while supporting Guenther's and Loomis' Batteries.
