Summary

Isabella of Bourbon, wife of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy died in 1465. Their daughter Mary built a funeral monument for her in the abbey of Saint Michael in Antwerp. The tomb was surrounded by 24 figures of mourning family members and ancestors, known as weepers (pleurants). They symbolized the importance of the Burgundy dynasty. These ten figures are all that remain.
