U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Dorian Gardner competes in a preliminary swim meet during Invictus Games Sydney 2018 at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre Oct. 23. Gardner competed in the 50m Breaststroke, 50m Freestyle and the 100m Freestyle. His speed qualified him for finals, which will be held Oct. 24. Gardner received injuries from an improvised explosive device which left him legally blind. Originally from Rialto, Calif., Gardner is assigned to Marine Corps Installations Command West, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
