Description: Extravehicular activity (EVA) preparations conducted in the shuttle middeck and external airlock for the contingency EVA. Mission Specialist Steve Smith, wearing liquid cooling and ventilation garment (LCVG) and the lower half of the Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) suit, floats in the middeck (026). Pilot Scott Horowitz floats in the middeck with his back to the camera; Smith is visible in the right side of the frame (027). A jumbled mass of EVA tools floats in the foreground including the Pistol Grip Tool (PGT), Multilayer Insulation (MLI) patches, EVA camera, EVA trash bag, and tethers and hooks; Horowitz can be seen in the background (028).
