State Lunatic Asylum, 400 Forest Avenue, Buffalo, Erie County, NY
Summary
Significance: The Buffalo State Hospital is a monumental structure which was designed for strictly utilitarian or institutional purposes. The exterior presentation of the Administration Building has strength of massing and aesthetic scaling to material. The wards, although themselves not innovative in design, were part of an over all design which was well-conceived and well-landscaped.
