Stamp of the Nazi-German "Protektorat Böhmen und Mähren" (= Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia); 1939; definitive stamp DRBM Michel No. 31 of the issue "Lime branch and Landscapes".; issue of 18 stamps; The stamp motive shows a view to the old Moravian town "Olomouc" (German: "Olmütz"). The stamp is showing a bird-eyes-view from the "Horní náměstí" (= "Upper Market place" ("Horní" = "Upper-")) of Olomouce with the city hall from the 14 century in the background and the baroque "Holy Trinity column" (German: "Pestsäule") in the foreground.; The city hall was erected in the 14th century beside of the "Chapel of the Saint Jerome" (= German: "Kapelle des Heiligen Hieronymus") with the greatest round-vault of the then world built in the so-called "Danube style". Stairs and loggia of the town hall are from Renaissance times and the building has an tower with an astronomical clock.; The "Holy Trinity Colums" on the upper market square was errected 1716-1754 in the style of Baroque as "Thank you"-gift for the end of the Pest in Moravia (from there comes also the German name "Pestsäule").; From the 18th century until 1918 was this town Austrian and 1918-1939 part of the independant state "Czeskoslovensko" and 1948-1993 part of "Czechoslovensko" and since 1993 part of the Crech Republic (although located in Moravia).; The Nazi-protectorate "Bohemia and Moravia" existed from 15 March 1939 until 8 May 1945 date QS:P,+1950-00-00T00:00:00Z/7,P580,+1939-03-15T00:00:00Z/11,P582,+1945-05-08T00:00:00Z/11.; From this time also is originated the depicted stamp.; Reasonable for the stamps of the protectorate was in each case the "Postal Supervision" (German: "Postaufsicht") of the German Empire.
