Lazzaro Bastiani was an Italian painter who was born in Venice in 1429 and died there in 1512. He was a prominent member of the Venetian Renaissance and was known for his religious works, portraits and landscapes. Bastiani was trained in the workshop of his father, Jacopo Bastiani, who was also a painter. He later became a pupil of Gentile Bellini, one of the leading painters of the Venetian School. Bastiani's early works were heavily influenced by Bellini's style, but he soon developed his own unique approach to painting. Bastiani's religious works were highly regarded during his lifetime and are still considered some of his best. He was particularly skilled at depicting the human figure, and his paintings often feature detailed and realistic depictions of saints and biblical figures. In addition to his religious works, Bastiani also painted portraits and landscapes. His portraits were highly sought after by wealthy Venetians, and his landscapes were admired for their naturalistic style and attention to detail. Bastiani's legacy continues to influence artists today, and his works can be found in museums and galleries around the world.
