Summary
Significance: The Newhalem Power Plant's purpose was to provide temporary power for construction of the first dam and City Camp (Newhalem). The Plant began operation 1921. In the early 1950s, was semiautomated and remained in operation supplying Newhalem with 2000 KVA until 1966, when it burned down. The rebuilt powerhouse retains the original machinery, penstocks and powertunnel.
