USS George Washington, under the command of CAPT Malcolm P. Branch, departed its homeport of Norfolk, Virginia, on January 26 for a six month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea. While there, the "Spirit of Freedom" will patrol the Adriatic Sea off the coast of Bosnia in support of NATO peace keeping Operation Joint Endeavor
