[Shakespeare courtship scene(?)] / E.A. Abbey 1889.
Print shows a reproduction of an Edwin A. Abbey illustration showing a man, with a lyre, and a woman in an embrace, standing beneath a statue of a nude woman holding a bow, after Eros, on an Italianate patio.
Title devised by Library staff.
Inscribed in pencil on verso: Probably the only proof in existence. I believe the drawing was made for the Shakespeare, and was reproduced in this size for use in Harper's Bazaar. Given to the Library of Congress by William Patton.
