Sgt. William E. Johnston II, CH-46E Sea Knight mechanic,

description

Summary

Sgt. William E. Johnston II, CH-46E Sea Knight mechanic, Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 364 (Rein.), 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, inspects helicopter equipment for foreign objects or debris inside of a CH-46E Sea Knight in the hangar bay of USS Peleliu, March 22. Johnston, 29, is from Washington Township, N.J., and is married. He was first fascinated with the Sea Knight when his uncle introduced him to the aircraft when he was younger. He learned of its capabilities, and the rest is history. He joined the Marine Corps to do something different and to experience an adventure. To pass the time on deployment, he enjoys going to the gym and teaching different forms of martial arts. Johnston's favorite parts of the deployment so far have been the ports and the opportunity to see the world. He is looking forward to seeing his wife and dog the most when he gets home. The 15th MEU is deployed as part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group as a U.S. Central Command theater reserve force, providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
