(Dec. 29, 2004) Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV), Gordon England, center, views the Navy plaque at the Lone Sailor Memorial as Jackson Schultz, left, San Francisco Lone Sailor memorial official, and Henry Trione, a major contributor to the memorial, describes the site. The Secretary later laid a wreath in honor of Sailors and Marines at the statue. The Lone Sailor Memorial at Vista Point Outlook on the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge offers scenic views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge and historic Alcatraz prison. The 7-foot tall and 800 pound bronze-statue stands, with his seabag, facing the bridge. The statue is surrounded by four bronze relief sculptures depicting the sea services from U.S. maritime history. It was dedicated April 14, 2002. U.S. Navy photo by Damon J.
