Salmon Dutton House, Cavendish, Windsor County, VT
Summary
Significance: The Salmon Dutton House demonstrates the additive quality indicative of many New England houses from its traditional ca. 1781 saltbox form to accommodate new uses over time including store, inn, and boarding house for local mill workers. The house was recorded by HABS in the 1930s, donated to the Vermont Historical Society and eventually moved to Sherbourne Museum. Among its noteworthy features is its original ca. 1800 stenciling.
