Willem Vrelant (c. 1430 - 1481) was a Flemish manuscript illuminator and painter who worked in Bruges during the late Middle Ages. He was known for his intricate and detailed illustrations, often with ornate borders, vibrant colours and gold leaf accents. Vrelant was a prolific artist and his works are in many important collections around the world, including the British Library, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and the Getty Museum. He was also highly regarded by his contemporaries and was appointed official illuminator to the court of Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in 1465. Vrelant's style was a major influence on later Flemish artists, including Gerard David and Hans Memling.
