Johnson's father, Robert Veldron Johnson, was a Gunner's Mate who was a USS Utah survivor discharged due to combat-related injuries sustained in 1944. This presentation of the National Ensign is part of a memorial service conducted for the recently deceased veteran, during which his remains were interned aboard USS Utah by a National Park Service dive team in the water below Pearl Harbor's Utah Memorial.
