PANAMA CANAL (Nov. 09, 2012) Sailors assigned to the amphibious transport dock ship Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Anchorage (LPD 23) watch as the ship passes through the Gatun locks, the first of three sets of locks ships use to transit the Panama Canal. Anchorage is on her maiden transit to her future homeport in San Diego, Calif. The ship is scheduled to be commissioned next spring in her namesake city of Anchorage, Alaska.
