Photograph of the old bell ringer (El Campanero), Don Ramon Arguello II standing (at right) by the ruin of the alter in the church of Mission San Juan Capistrano, California. He is the grandson of Don Santiago Arguello after whom San Juan was named "San Juan de Arguello" when the ex-mission was formed into a pueblo in 1841 under Mexico.; "In 1841 San Juan was formed into a regular Pueblo or town of the Mexican Republic and was officially named 'San Juan de Arguello' in honor of this man's grandfather, Don Santiago Arguello." -- A. Yorba.
